Sometimes we wonder why things happen to us, or why our Heavenly Father gave us something that seems useless. Something that makes us question why He gave us something that seems overly challenging and makes you wonder how you will ever get through it. That's when we need to turn to God for help.
I have two specific questions that are very much related to those above.
They are: why did I come into contact with the missionaries a year and a half before I could even be baptized? and why have I been put with all sorts of different missionaries?
I was talking to Elder Alvarenga about both of these questions. As well as Elder Coy and Elder Eberle.
To the first question, Elder Alvarenga responded: "what if we didn't meet you? what if you didn't know this gospel at all? maybe if this never happened, you might not have known this. Maybe from the time you met with missionaries, and until the time you are baptized, you would have fallen deeper than ever. you never know what could have happened.. i think God knew, that if you didn't learn the gospel early before your baptism, you may not have known it at all." And he's right. I don't know what would have happened to me if I hadn't met these outstanding missionaries. I can only guess that I would be exactly where I was before I met them, or worse.
These missionaries, through the power of the Holy Ghost have taught me so much about the Gospel and our Heavenly Father. They have brought an incredible amount of joy and happiness into my life.
Through faith I know that God has a plan for me. Though I might not know what it is exactly. I know that He knows and He will always do what's best for me because He is my loving Father in Heaven.
My second question, concerning the missionaries, I have no idea what the answer is. I can only trust that God knows exactly what He is doing. I know that from each and every missionary I have been placed with I have learned something. And maybe that's the purpose of this. Maybe later, it will enable me to become a better missionary and serve Him beyond the ability of most simply because of experience. I don't know, but I do have faith that for whatever reason He is doing this, it will make me a better and more Christ-like figure in the end.
Through faith, I know that I can get over any challenge that is set before me and endure until the end. This is what faith is for. To help us. Our Heavenly Father loves us so much that as long as we have faith in Him, we will never fall to where we can't get back up. He is always there to help us. Forever and ever.
